Inaction saps the vigour of the mind...

Oh how nice it was to be back at teaching and training myself after being sick for a while!

Yes, it felt hard...muscles were tired easily, but nevertheless it felt good to be able to use them again! What I've noticed since being sick, is that it can be such a slippery slope...being inactive for a while (because rest was what my body needed), can make it that much harder to get back into the game. This is what I felt happening: I was exhausted, so wasn't active (which is good! and we need to honour rest!), but after a while, the inactivity also made me MORE tired...mentally and physically I noticed I was kind of in a slump. With not a lot of motivation (to do anything!) and feelings of depression fleeted in and out some days... Movement and momentum (the act of starting something) are for me huge mood boosters. Now, it doesn't always have to be intense. It doesn't have to mean working out 5 days/week.

But, walking...starting that project that we have been postponing... (for me, that was as simple as cleaning the floors yesterday); can be such great mood lifters and it does build momentum to keep going. Yes, respect rest. Do NOTHING once in a while.

BUT when you start to notice it is actually effecting you more negatively than positively...try and break out of it by starting small. Taking little steps towards activity. It can make a big difference in how we feel and change our energy. 💞☺️
